The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for the daily functions of the Human Resource department, and is the first point of contact for all employees and supervisors regarding human resources policies and programs in the assigned plant.

Duties:

  • Recruits, interviews, schedules, and facilitates the hiring of job applicants for open positions within the assigned plant.
  • Collaborates with Plant Manager to understand skills and competencies required for open positions.
  • Conducts background checks, drug screens, and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation.
  • Oversees employee referral and bonus programs for assigned plant.
  • Tracks PTO requests, attendance, and points for assigned plant.
  • Performs tasks required to administer human resource programs such as wage changes; benefits and leave; disciplinary matters; investigations; performance management; and training and development.
  • Administers benefits plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and deductions.
  • Handles human resource inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.
  • Participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with training, safety, continuing education, and work assessments.
  • Prepares and maintains employee files.
  • Assists accounting department with payroll activities and maintains the payroll systems as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned at the Plant or Corporate level.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations including, but not limited to FMLA, ADA, Workers Compensation, ERISA, FLSA.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 2 - 3 of experience in human resources preferred.
  • SHRM-CP a plus.
