This position is responsible for overseeing the QA/QC functions of all products, processes and Quality Personnel at the manufacturing facility. Provide leadership by ensuring personnel within the Quality Department are trained and equipped, and systems are established and maintained in order to ensure a high standard of quality product that meet all internal and external customer needs. Assess effectiveness and maximize productivity and quality opportunities that lead to continuous improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Quality Assurance

  • Supports the company's Quality and Performance Improvement processes.
  • Analyzes work flows within and across all plant departments to establish best practices, incorporate safety measures, ensure highest quality standards, and determine best efficiencies.
  • Documents results and create/modify SOP's as processes are generated or changed.
  • Lead / Participate in Root-Cause Analysis and Problem Solving Events for Quality & Safety occurrences to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Research, suggest, and evaluate new technologies and processes to better current company methods.
  • Research and recommend process / tooling improvements for Quality Department.
  • Review NCR's and evaluates processes to reduce and eliminate recurrences.
  • Participate in Daily Management Walks as needed, document concerns and establish action plan to address.
  • Works closely with the Plant Manager and Production Manager in order to communicate and advise on any quality or safety problems found, and processes that need to be developed.
  • Conduct Quality System Committee (QSC) meeting after each biyearly PCI audit with QA Director to identify potential problems and offer solutions related to quality assurance operations.
  • Assist QA Director in maintaining the Quality System Manual (QSM) and implementing quality control procedures that will result in superior quality product.


Quality Control

  • Ensures that the plant and all personnel meet PCI /DOT guidelines and maintain applicable certification.
  • Knowledgeable in standard specifications for bridge construction in all states the plant serves.
  • Verifies that the plant has up-to-date ACI, PCI, and State DOT manuals for testing procedures, product tolerances, and material requirements. Replaces manuals as newer versions are released.
  • Ensures that the batch plant maintains appropriate certifications.
  • Responsible for studying any shop drawings, contract plans, or supplemental job specifications prior to production start and QC inspection relating to a job or project. Ensure the products are designed properly.
  • Ensures that all shop drawings have been approved/stamped and meet all specifications.
  • Maintains job or project QC documentation per company standards.
  • Maintains PSI documentation per company standards.
  • Ensures that all material used in manufacturing the product meets all specifications.
  • Ensures that all machinery is up-to-date and maintain proper calibration.
  • Helps to liaison between plant operations and state DOT or 3rd party inspectors


  • Supervises all Quality Personnel.
  • Participates in the interviewing, hiring, training, discipline, and termination of Quality Personnel.
  • Ensures a proper staffing level of Quality Personnel to meet production needs. 
  • Ensures that all Quality Personnel maintain appropriate training and personnel certifications.



  • Initiate and embrace a safety culture where all employees feel comfortable communicating safety concerns.
  • Communicate and endorse the company safety program through regularly scheduled meetings.

Skills and Qualifications

  • People Management, Analyzing Information, Reporting Research Results, Technical Understanding, Promoting Process Improvement, Developing Standards, Managing Processes, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Dealing with Complexity, Problem Solving, Process Improvement
  • Applicable industry certifications, including but not limited to: PCI (Levels 1, 2, 3) and ACI (Level 1, 2), NRMCA, ASTM, state level DOT, etc.
  • Experience in Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, CPI (Continuous Process Improvement)

The individual must be able to perform all of these actions while being exposed to inclement weather as this position works outdoors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals which require employee to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/ or humid/ cold conditions, as well as high, precarious places.

Employee will utilize proper PPE as instructed by supervisor, such as gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, reflective vests and steel toe boots. Additional PPE may be required.
